How it works
How to use
Choose how many colors to create, then generate the palette.
Method
Three secure random bytes produce each opaque sRGB color.
Example
Copy any generated color as HEX, RGB, or HSL.
Explore opaque sRGB colors
Choose a palette size and generate. Each color starts with three random bytes for red, green, and blue. The cards expose HEX, RGB, and rounded HSL representations so you can copy the form your stylesheet or design tool expects.
HEX and RGB describe the same byte channels. HSL expresses hue, saturation, and lightness derived from those channels; it is another representation, not another randomly chosen color. Rounded HSL can differ slightly if converted back to bytes.
A random palette is not an accessible theme
Generated colors are independent. They are not selected for contrast, harmony, color-vision accessibility, or brand consistency. Test text/background pairs with an appropriate contrast checker before using them in an interface.
All generated colors are opaque. The tool does not create alpha values, gradients, or print-specific CMYK colors. Device display settings can also affect appearance, so a browser preview is not a print proof.
Frequently asked questions about Color Generator
Does HSL lightness measure text contrast?
No. HSL lightness is a coordinate in that color representation. Accessible contrast requires a separate calculation for the foreground/background pair.
Can I generate transparent colors?
The generator produces opaque sRGB colors. Add and test transparency in the consuming design tool if you need it.
How many colors can I generate at once?
You can generate between 1 and 20 colors in one palette. Each generated card represents one independently selected opaque sRGB color.
Which color formats can I copy?
Each generated color can be copied as HEX, RGB or rounded HSL. These are different representations of the same opaque sRGB color rather than three separately generated colors.
Are generated palettes checked for accessibility or contrast?
No. Colors are generated independently and are not filtered for text contrast, color harmony or color-vision accessibility. Test any foreground and background combination before using it in an interface.
How does SnakTool choose each random color?
The browser supplies three random bytes for the red, green and blue channels. The resulting color is opaque, and generating again can produce a different palette.
